Some very sad news for Southern progressives: Anne Braden, one of the matriarchs of the Southern progressive movement, passed away in Louisville, Kentucky this morning.

As a fitting tribute to the legacy of Coretta Scott King and her husband Dr. Martin Luther King, four presidents attended her funeral today. But a poet probably said it best:
