September 4, 2008 - Today I'm traveling back from New Orleans to North Carolina via Birmingham. I stopped in at the main Red Cross shelter for Gustav evacuees that's been erected at the city's Civic Center to see how people were holding up.

September 4, 2008 - The U.S. Human Rights Network is seeking volunteers to monitor potential human rights violations, gather information, and conduct interviews in shelters housing Gustav evacuees. Volunteers are needed in Memphis, Knoxville and Nashville, Tenn.; Alexandria and Shreveport, La.; Houston and San Antonio, Texas; Atlanta; and Fort Chaffee, Ark.
