Robert D. Manning is Caroline Werner Gannett Professor of the Humanities at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and the author of Credit Card Nation: The Consequences of America’s Addiction to Credit (Basic Books, 2000). Dr. Manning frequently testifies before Congress to defend citizen consumer rights, and also maintains a website, www.creditcardnation.com, which features financial education programs and quizzes, statistics, and other information on credit card dependency and financial literacy. His next book, Give Yourself Credit! (Alta Mira, 2004), offers advice on how to minimize the cost of consumer credit. (2003)
