Jerry Wayne Williamson was the founding editor of Appalachian Journal in 1972 and continues in that role. The Journal is now in its 22nd volume. He is on the faculty at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. He is author of Southern Mountaineers in Silent Films (McFarland 1994) and Hillbillyland: What the Movies Did to the Mountains and What the Mountains Did to the Movies (University of North Carolina Press, forthcoming).
