September 27, 2023 - The South is the fastest-growing region in the country. Several states have seen significant increases in their populations of voting-age residents who speak a language other than English at home. But of the 30 states with jurisdictions that are legally obligated to provide language access and multilingual voting materials under Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act, only a handful are in the South.

March 20, 2015 - The Voting Rights Act, which protects minorities' right to vote, also ensures that limited English proficient voters can fully participate in elections. Enforcing those measures will be critical as the South's language minority population grows.
