September 16, 2021 - With far-right activists planning to gather in Washington, D.C., and other cities on Sept. 18 to protest the arrests of those involved in the attempted Jan. 6 overthrow of the presidential election, we look at how the prosecutions of the violent domestic terrorists known as "accelerationists" are progressing.

February 3, 2021 - Right-wing extremists who believe the fall of American society has begun and should be hastened through racial polarization and violence played a key role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Documents filed as part of recent criminal prosecutions of accelerationists, many active in the South, reveal disturbing trends, including ties to foreign intelligence services and penetration of the U.S. military.

January 29, 2021 - Following the riot at the U.S. Capitol, the president has ordered a threat assessment on domestic terrorism, and his defense secretary has promised to purge the military of extremists. Experts who monitor hate groups say it's also critical for political leaders across the ideological spectrum to speak out against colleagues who spread falsehoods.

August 14, 2019 - In 2009, the Department of Homeland Security produced a report that tried to focus the nation's attention on the growing threat of right-wing domestic terrorism. Members of Congress, including several representing Southern states that have suffered domestic terror attacks, worked to bury it.

April 6, 2018 - Election watchdogs have accused the British political consulting firm of violating limits on foreign involvement in elections and of facilitating illegal coordination between super PACs and campaigns in its work to elect candidates including U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina.

July 21, 2016 - The Missouri man who killed three law enforcement officers and injured three others in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, this week was an adherent of a violent, extremist, anti-government ideology rooted in white supremacy but that in recent years has spawned a black nationalist strain that's attracting African Americans.

July 8, 2016 - With federal officials saying they've found nothing to prove the 2014 hanging death of the 17-year-old North Carolina youth was not self-inflicted, his death joins a list of other hangings of black men that have been ruled suicides despite suspicions of foul play. Another happened just this week in Atlanta.
