Sue Sturgis wins 'Green Tie Award' for environmental coverage
Facing South is proud to announce that editorial director Sue Sturgis has been honored with a "Green Tie Award" from the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters for her coverage of energy and environmental issues.
The League issues the awards each year to "honor legislators and leaders who have stepped up, spoken out, and carried water for environmental issues."
In giving Sturgis this year's "Catalyst Award," the League honored her contributions to informing the public about a wide array of environmental issues, from climate change to fracking, coal mining and the special interests pushing to loosen environmental rules and repeal the state's renewable energy standard.
In the words of the League:
The Catalyst Award is presented to Sue Sturgis for her long history and strong commitment to educating the public about important environmental issues. Through her media coverage, she has taken exceptional action to create change and to bring attention to actions threatening North Carolina’s environment and quality of life.
The awards ceremony will be held May 29 in Raleigh. Congratulations, Sue!
