Gustav Coverage: On-the-ground coverage from west of New Orleans
I just finished driving the Louisiana back roads from Interstate 55, backed up for miles by residents trying to get back into New Orleans, to Baton Rouge, the state capitol which is still being drenched by Gustav's aftermath.
If the image of Katrina was submerged city streets, the image of Gustav is rural houses along the bayous swamped by storm water.
These are the residents who are most vulnerable to the massive land loss and destruction of wetlands that have left coastal residents more vulnerable to storm surges.
