Election 08: Is NC the surprise state of 2008? Update

At DailyKos, we cross-posted a piece based on our two earlier posts on surprising developments in North Carolina that have made it a key battleground state. It's now the top-ranked diary at DailyKos and has generated lots of good discussion.

Part III of our analysis of North Carolina is going to look at how the state's changing electorate is going to play into this year's elections, but here's a sneak preview based on our DailyKos post:

A key stat: Out of 363,800+ new voter registrations in NC in 2008, 33% of that growth has come from new African-American voter registrations.
