Momentum builds for wage hike in NC
North Carolinians for Fair Wages -- a coalition seeking to boost the state's minimum wage -- is having a big press conference today, with former Sen. John Edwards, current state treasurer Richard Moore and other key leaders speaking out.
The bill that's currently "live" in the North Carolina legislature hike the minimum wage by 85 cents, although the coalition would like it higher and indexed for inflation. If there's an outpouring of public support, the group says, state legislators would have the cover to introduce new legislation with a dollar increase.

LEADERS TO ENDORSE NORTH CAROLINA WAGE INCREASE
On Monday, May 15, former Senator John Edwards and NC State Treasurer Richard Moore will endorse efforts to boost North Carolina's minimum wage. After years of federal inaction, the coalition is urging North Carolina to join other states in giving a boost to wages for working families.
