Southern National Forests for sale
The Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management sold off oil and gas exploration leases in several Southern National Forests last week:
124 parcels of Federal subsurface brought in $2,540,277.50 through a competitive auction of oil and gas leases. The underlying parcels were within the Talladega National Forest in Alabama, the Ouachita, Ozark and St. Francis National Forests in Arkansas, the Kisatchie National Forest in Louisiana, privately owned surface in Michigan, the DeSoto and Tombigbee National Forests in Mississippi, and the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia.
Don't worry. It's all part of the master plan.
