The New Orleans land grab
C.C. Campbell-Rock, a New Orleans native, has a great piece in the San Francisco Bay View about what corporate leaders, especially the Bring Back New Orleans commission, have in store for the city:
Plans for private-public development partnerships, target development areas, eminent domain and immediate opportunity areas belie the fact that the plan, which will be reviewed on March 8, 2006, at 6 p.m., in the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, boils down to a naked land grab.
Read the whole piece (which also covers "The Mardi Gras Index" [pdf], our report on the status of New Orleans rebuilding from earlier this week).
