Donna Shalala's gardeners join janitors' strike
Majikthise reports the latest on the Miami janitor's strike:
The gardeners who tend to University of Miami President Donna Shalala's personal residence have joined their UNiCCO coworkers on strike. The maintenance workers at the University of Miami are fighting for better wages and healthcare benefits.
You can help them by writing to Shalala, or calling her office at (305) 284-5155 to ask her to mandate that UNICCO pay the janitors a living wage. Members of the University of Miami community can show their support for the janitors by signing this petition.
