Halliburton's Patriotism
David Sirota has the goods, based on a scoop by the good folks at Halliburton Watch:
Halliburton (Vice President Cheney's old company) is employing its Iraq workers through its Cayman Islands subsidiary (probably the same one that it used to evade U.S. law and do business in Iran). The reason? Because when Halliburton workers return from Iraq, the company can claim it isn't a U.S. company and thus not required to pay their workers unemployment. So, when it comes to raking in billions of taxpayer dollars from government contracts, Halliburton proudly claims its an American company. But when it comes to making sure workers get unemployment benefits, Halliburton claims it is not an American company.
And they call the peace protesters unpatriotic?
